THE FIRST SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT IN MALLET DESIGN AND STRIKING FACE MATERIAL IN 40 YEARS

AS A RESULT OF

TODAY'S COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY AND  TWENTY FIRST CENTURY MATERIALS,

 ALL PFC MALLETS HAVE INCORPORATED

TWO SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENTS -

* A PERFECTLY BALANCED METAL ALLOY WEATHERPROOF CROQUET MALLET

* THE AVAILABILITY OF UNIQUE STRIKING FACE MATERIAL FORMULATED IN 2017

BOTH IMPROVEMENTS HAVE BEEN USED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF PFC HOOP MAKER MALLETS AND

OUR NEW 'CF' HOOP RUNNER (CARBON FIBER SHEATHED) MALLET RANGE

.........................................................................................................

2018  LASER  C A D TECHNOLOGY  USED IN ALL PFC MALLETS

After 35 years of making the finest precision instruments used in extremely accurate measuring and medical applications, I just had to apply today's manufacturing techniques in the manufacture of all my mallets to make the finest croquet mallet I am able to manufacture.

Please let me explain how today's technology has made such an incredible mallet possible

#1.

THE REPLACEMENT OF THE AGE OLD CONCEPT OF PERIPHERAL WEIGHTING

21ST Century Computer Aided Design manufacturing techniques have resulted in the use of impact transfer technology - in PFC mallets since 2015 - and  the use of alloys not dreamed of 20 years ago.

This has resulted in :

* mallets that actually contributes to the distance of travel of the ball (without the need to use heavy weights at each end of the mallet).

* the mallet even transfers impact shock away from the handle and back to the striking faces accentuating 'feel'.

and

* the mallet makes a different noise if you don't hit the ball near the middle of the striking face (the sweet spot). This significantly helps with accuracy, distance  and confidence of your stroke.

THE CHOICE OF STRIKING FACE

IS YOURS

 #2.

THE USE OF THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY (2018) IN STRIKING FACE MATERIAL

You have three choices in striking face material:

* Conventional BRASS (1,000 BC technology) ,

* SYNTHETIC BLACK ( 1966 technology)

or

* ZELATRON (the very latest (2017) technology).

information on ZELATRON:

Designed and manufactured in 2017 by a croquet playing Chemical Engineer, ZELATRON's slightly softer surface provides significantly better 'grip' on the ball and 'feel' of the impact with the ball thereby enhancing accuracy of each shot. You feel much more in control of the stroke.

ZELATRON's 'grip and feel'  also enables more reliable ratios for rolls and passing rolls and better control of 'jumps'.

Zelatron striking faces will not become smooth with use but retail a grit rating of approximately 1600 grit.

ZELATRON is the first significant improvement in striking face material in at least 40 years.

.............................................................................................................

With choices of any handle length, shape and cover, and the ability to halve the length of the handle if you travel, we believe the PFC Hoop Maker Mallet are the most user friendly mallet on the market for all ages and all levels of croquet players.

AND

Because there is no wood, screws or glue used in the fabrication of the heads of our mallets, all PFC mallets heads carry a

7 year parts and labor head guarantee

excluding handle covers

(Handle covers will be replaced for $20.00 each time for the life of the mallet + return postage)

Details OF INTEREST to you

The aim of the mallets construction is to manufacture a precision instrument that will not change its dimension or shape or character FOR THE LIFE OF THE MALLET (due to moisture absorption or fibre 'shatter') and as a result

MY MALLETS WILL BE TOTALLY PREDICTABLE FOR LIFE.

To achieve such accuracy, each PFC HOOP MAKER and PFC HOOP RUNNER mallet is made from our formula of alloy and is formed from one piece of alloy using an extremely sophisticated computer controlled milling machine.

The system also forms the impact heads (our formula of polymers, nylons, ZELATRON elements or brass alloy) during the one process which become part of the alloy head by the use of a sophisticated membrane, resulting in a clean impact and maximum feel.

The reason for this construction process is to:

1.  Manufacture a mallet that places the least demand upon fingers, hands and wrists.

2.  Enable the highest manufacturing precision possible.

3.  Achieve the most complete balance attainable.

4.  Assist in a ‘groove’ swing by achieving near perfect balance.

5.  Is completely predictable as it will never loose it's shape.

........................................................................................

PLEASE NOTE

ALL PFC MALLETS ARE GUARANTEED TO HAVE THE STRIKING FACES AT EXACTLY 90 DEGREES TO THE CENTER PLAIN OF THE MALLET. (IF A MALLET FACE IS 1 DEGREE OF THE CENTER PLAIN IT WILL HIT INCORRECTLY TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT BY 1" (2.5cm) IN 7' (180cm). THIS VARIABLE ERROR HAS BEEN COMPLETELY REMOVED IN MY MALLETS

..................................................................................................

I'm often asked "Did you design the mallet"

Well, here's how it all happened:

The Birth of the PFC Alloy Croquet Mallet

The product of four men

In the late 60’s four men were assigned to solve a difficult problem. They were in their mid-twenties. All highly qualified Engineers and with a common interest, they became close friends. They kept in touch only occasionally as distance was a problem. One Australian – Precision Engineer, one Englishman – fine Production Engineer, one German – Percussion Engineer and an American – Laser CAD engineer.

At 2.00am in February in 2014 the Australian decided to design a Croquet mallet using the latest Laser CD technology, the latest Alloys, a design that eliminated peripheral weighting and that used the impact shock of contact with the ball for the benefit of the croquet player - to produce a bullet proof mallet with great power and three different weights.

A week later the design was sent electronically to Hans. The design was perfected and sent to Richard who optimized the design for production. Richard’s solution was sent to Tex who made some alterations then wrote the program for the latest quarter of a million dollar Laser CAD machines in Australia.

An American Orthopedic specialist designed the Oval handle which became 95% of the mallets sales. Special handle foams and coverings were sourced from Taiwan to produce handles for Arthritis and back pain sufferers.

In 2017 a Croquet playing Chemical engineer in Australia formulated Zelatron. A slightly softer material that ‘grips’ the ball better than any other product previously used. The Striking Faces don’t become smooth with use, rather Zelatron retains a 1600 grit surface for life assisting in the execution of rolls and passing rolls and rushes in AC, and jumps and distance shots in GC.

PFC Mallet sales have increased to in excess of 1,050 a year around the world and are on the increase.

All retired now, the four men meet in one of the three northern hemisphere countries every two years. Our wives are the greatest of friends.

Hi Pete,
Thought I'd let you know how much I enjoy using my new PFC Hoop Maker mallet.  As I've lost strength in my shoulders I'm finding the new lighter mallet easier to use.  My length of court roquets are now more successful as I'm able to hit longer distances without the strength needed previously.  The balance of the mallet is also excellent which has made hoop running more enjoyable and successful.  Overall the PFC Hoop Maker is a joy to use.  The fantastic look of the mallet is also a talking point with much interest from croquet players asking questions and for the web site address. All the best Brenda, Mount Sugarloaf, New South Wales, Australia
